Ever since Christopher Columbus landed in the new world the natives to the region have had been treated horrible. In America the tribe that were living of the land for hundreds for years were suddenly were a lesser person, a savage race that needed to be taking care of so the white man can have what it wants. All through out the Untied States history the Native American has been pushed around and murdered for the reason of they will not adopt a foreign culture. The untied states government has treated the Native Americans wrong in the past and they are still treating them wrong today.

   The wrong treatment towards native American everyone knows started back when they were first found by Columbus and they were forced to collect gold and when they did not they were killed. But the real terrible treatment of the Native Americans by the US government started under the presidency of Jackson. The Indian removal act of 1830 forced five groups of Indians the most famous being the Cherokee to move from there home because they were clashing with the white people. So Jackson forced them to move off there land that was there before the white man even came to America and go to the Indian Territory. The path they walked was called the trail of tears were thousands of Indians died on the way.  The next wrong that the Untied States government happened for of 50 years in the Indian war were the US committed genocide against the Native Americans. The Untied States was growing and they need to expand west to grow food to feed the people in the east. When the white man went west they ran into a problem the Indians and the buffalo. So to fix the problem the white people push the Indians around and killed all the buffalo in 1840 there was 25 million buffalo but just 50 years later there were only 1100 in the whole country. The Indians way of life was center on the buffalo so with it gone the Indian way of life was dying. All this disrespect to the Indian culture got them mad so they decide to fight and they started the Indian war. The two major battles were the battle of little bighorn and the battle of Wounded Knee in this one the Sioux were massacred over 200 men women and children were murdered. In this time period between 1840 and 1900 the Untied States government treated a culture with plan disrespect and they wipe Out the Native American way of life. Today the Native Americans are still being treated the same way they live on small reservation were they face the worst poverty in this hemisphere right in the middle of the richest country in America also they face alcoholism and drugs. Activist members of the American Indian Movement AIM took control of Wounded Knee. They were protesting issues related to Native American rights on the Pine Ridge Reservation. On February 27 1973 federal law enforcement officials and the United States military surrounded the town. Two members of AIM were killed.Today the US government does not do much to help them improve themselves and they still will not accept the Native Americans want to keep there culture and just live of the land and be one with nature. That is how the Untied States government treated the Native Americans wrong through out the history of the Untied States of America.

slavery

The antebellum slavery was one of the worst time periods that this country that stands for freedom faced. The life of a slave was one that I would not wish upon my worst enemies. A slave was often whipped, beaten, starved, and treated like an animal. Having to live your whole life like that is probably the worst thing any human has ever faced. The slave was just any empty body the soul would have cracked away with no chance for hope no reason to value your life a sense of worthlessness.

I have a pretty good life in this town space to do what I want and food on the table. So I have no right to put myself in the place of a slave I can not image what being a slave was like but I will try. It is a cold morning and I wake up in the bottom of a tightly pack chained to a dead body. I think that this must have been the worst feeling in the world to know that you are just entering hell. I do not think that there are even words to describe the condition on the boats that the slave faced before even reaching America. If I was a slave I think that my sprit would be broken very fast being whipped and have to work all day the  slave who were able to keep faith must have been superhuman not subhuman like the slave masters thought. Religion was a huge part of slavery for both the slave masters and slave. The slave forced to convert the catholic had secret meetings in the middle of the night to practice religion which gave them a hope for there lives. Also the slave masters after beaten, starving, and treating other humans like animals would go to church on Sunday ask God for forgiveness and think that everything was all good. But that is not the truth we have to change for our sins to be forgive. The slave masters use there confessions to God to ease their concisions cause they know what they was very wrong. The story the touched me the most was the story of Harriet Tubman she faced slavery as a child then when she became free she spent her life save other slave. It just touches me that she would risk her own life time upon time to save other when she could have just saved herself. Those are some of my feelings about slavery.
